COUNSELLING DEPARTMENT
General counselling departmentThe fundamental purpose of this department is to provide counselling services to members of the Bulawayo community who cannot afford the fees charged by private psychologists and counsellors. Counselling is provided for any social problem by counsellors stationed at the main office as well as in satellite centres. The satellite centers are found at Northend clinic, Luveve clinic, Pelandaba clinic, Maqhawe clinic, Nkulumane clinic, Tshabalala clinic, Family Support Trust (Mpilo ward C5), Sexual Rights Centre as well as Mpilo O.I Clinic (click here for more details). All these came up as a response to rising demand as well as to relieve clients the burden of meeting transport costs into the city Centre.

The main objectives of the general counselling department are:

To improve coping mechanisms for families and children living in difficult circumstances.

To improve awareness about the functioning of a family.

Reduction of HIV infection by identifying risk behavior and working with individuals and couples on alternative behavior.

Protection of children through awareness of children’s rights and needs and empowerment of their family relationships.

To promote and support the family as a fundamental unit of society (including the needs of children) within the frame work of economic and other limitations.
